Dear Parents/Guardians,
This is our last blog entry. Thursday is our last day of school Please just plan on picking up your child's report card before 11 o'clock. If you child has to come, buses will run and will leave that day around 11. Car riders will be able to leave anytime, but no later than 10:45. We will not be having a last day party or any school activities.
The Academic Pep Rally will be Tuesday at 12:30. You are always welcome to attend.
L. E. Archer went with a large group of students who were on Level 4 or above. They enjoyed the day at Chucky Cheese's in Jackson. L. E. was also our highest point reader and will get a $25.00 gift certificate to Books a Million. Congratulations, L. E. Keep up the good work!
Field Day is Wednesday, weather permitting.
Again, thank you for the loan of your child/children this year. Overall, we have had a good year. I hope your child has learned many things and I feel like all are ready for 5th grade. Thank you for your cooperation during the year. I have enjoyed working with you, as well. I hope each of you have a happy summer.

Can you believe it? This is our last full week of school! Your children have worked hard this year and have made a lot of progress. They will certainly be ready for all 5th grade will have in store for them. I have enjoyed them very much and look forward to these last few days together.
Our 4th graders really looked good during the PE program. They had fun and played well.
L. E. has reached Level 13 in our school-wide AR program.
Our English final was Friday and the majority of the students did a really good job. I was very pleased with the overall results.
Our Reading final is Tuesday and there is nothing to study. It will be a book test and a cumulative test of skills we have had throughout the year.
The Math final will be Wednesday. The students will have the usual pre-test on Tuesday and we will correct it in class. To prepare for Wednesday's final, they need to study their corrected pre-test. Two weeks ago when we had our last Math test, almost half of our students failed it-and all they had to do was study their pre-test just a little the night before.
The Spelling final is Thursday and will include words from Units 27-34. We will have our weekly test on Unit 34 on Friday.
We will continue with daily work through next Tuesday, May 24, but time will be available for the students to get all or most all in class. Next Wednesday is Field Day and the next you can come get their Report Card.
No assignments are posted due to the above explination. Your child may have to finish up work at home but ample time will be available in class to complete work, just as it has been the past few weeks.
Thanks for all you have done this year to help your child be ready for each day. I have enjoyed working with your child as well as each of you.

We have more congratulations this week! Adam, L. E., Joseph, and Rachel won prizes for the outstanding job they did on their Book Report in a Bag presented to the class on Thursday. Miss Camille, through the Enrich program, donated books to each of these students and Miss April, a helper with our Enrich Program, came and judged our class presentations. We appreciate vey much the imput of both Miss Camille and Miss April. Almost everyone did a terrific job and Miss April was impressed with the creativity our students had with what they put in their bag. It was lots of fun.
Readers who met their AR goal for the last few weeks were L. E., Adam, Rachel, Billy, Jose, and Erik. These students were treated to ice cream.
Students who reached Level III for our school-wide AR board were Adam, Joseph and Erik. L. E. has reached Level XII!Congratulations to all of these students! Reading successfully is so important to your child's success in all areas of school-work.
Our Mom's Lunch is Tuesday. Our class will eat at 12:05. Please plan on eating with us. The PE program is at 9 on Wednesday. You are also invited to attend this. I think our students are playing kickball. It shoud be fun.
The Enrich trip to the zoo is Thursday.I hope every Enrich student meets his/her goal so they can go on this fun and exciting field trip. We have big plans for the 4 students who are not in Enrich, as well. Assignments made on Wednesday will be due Friday. Please note this with your child.
Final exams will start this Friday with our English final. It willl cover only Chapter 6. The Reading final will be Tuesday, May 17. It is a book test and really no way to study for it. The Math final will be Wednesday, May 18, and will be a regular cumulative test where the pretest will be on Monday and the final will be on Wednesday. Students will need to study their pretest closely. The Spelling final will be Thursday, May 19, and will cover Units 27-34. This schedule is tentative, but I am trying very hard to meet this schedule. Of course, it depends on the weather, extra activities at school that may come up and just end of school crunch. I just thought you might want to know and help your child be prepared.
Assignments will follow. I hope you have a good week.

As I post this wet, rainy, Sunday afternoon, I can only be concerned for my students and their families as the forecast continues to be so dismal. I hope you are all safe and dry.

What a windy and stormy week! I hope this one will be better , but according to the weather person, it may not be.
*Please remember our PE program Wednesday at 9. Our students say they will be playing kickball for you. It should be fun.
Our story in Reading is "Jim Thorpe's Path." We continue with Spelling and are in Unit 32. We should complete Problem Set 72 in Math by the end of the week and we are writing essays and working on pronouns in English. In Social Studies, we are going to try some group presentations and study the Revolutionary War.
As always, we continue through these last few weeks staying busy and learning as much as we can.
Thanks for your help in getting your child prepared for school each day.

Our PE program is at 9 a. m. on the 27th. You are all invited.
The assignments for the next few days are included this week.
I apologize for the posterous being late. My mother has been in the hospital and I have needed to stay with her there.
Have a good week.

TCAP week is finally here! We will test from 8:10-11:00 o'clock Tuesday through Friday. I would like to provide light snacks for the students each of those days and would appreciate a dollar donation from you if possible. Please do not send snacks and please do not send more than $1. We only have a limited time to break each day and just a light, small snack is all we will have time for.
We continue to review up to the last minute and homework is not planned for this week. Please made sure your child is rested and ready for each day this week. Although too much emphasis is often placed on achievement tests, these next few days will determine your child's progress this year and we will continue to prepare and take this testing opportunity very seriously.
Thank you for your help in preparing your child for school every day. Please send your donoation to our "snack fund" if you can.
Have a good week.

This week will be a week to review and plow ahead as we continue our preparation for next weeks TCAP tests. We will do most of our work in class and those who don't finish it will need to finish it at home.
We will not have a traditional week of reading with a story or spelling with a unit of words, but I can assure you we will be very busy!
Thank you to those of you who attended Parent/Teacher Conferences. There were some good visits with parents and I always appreciate the time you take to discuss your child's progress.
I hope each of you have a good week. It should be another busy one for us at school.

Once again, we had a week of winners! Our class really enjoyed participating in the food service special week. Abigail, Rachel, Wilfrido, Dakota, Harley and Paul all won a treat for having a special note attached to their chair. Rachel also won $10 for the book cover contest. Jordan guessed the closest amount of Rice Krispy treats in a jar and won the jar and was gracious enough to share them with his class! Our class won the riddle contest on Monday and each student won a really nice bag of goodies and snacks. We appreciate Miss Keri and her staff of cafeteria workers for sponsoring this fun week for our school--and especially all of the nice treats for our winning students!
SCIENCE FAIR PROJECTS AND ORAL PRESENTATIONS ARE DUE WEDNESDAY. With all of the interesting titles, there should be some good projects presented. Students will be getting a grade for: presentation of project, artistic design and scientific information on board; overall project, at least.
